About the Role

The Safety and Sustainability Advisor will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and sustainability of our operations at Colas Rail UK. This position will be responsible for providing professional advice and guidance on occupational health and safety matters, as well as promoting a positive safety culture throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee activities to ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Raise awareness of safety and sustainability among employees, alliance partners, and contractors.
  • Provide guidance on the maintenance of the safety management system and ensure the use of best practices.
  • Engage with employees, alliance partners, and contractors to promote a positive safety culture.
  • Monitor safety performance and effectiveness, and undertake thorough investigations into incidents and accidents.
  • Manage the reporting of safety issues and performance to senior management.
  • Assist in developing, communicating, and implementing occupational health and safety strategies and initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver safety training and briefings to employees.
  • Conduct risk assessments and contribute to the development of systems and procedures.
Requirements
  • Strong background in occupational safety management and supporting systems.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment techniques, behavioral based safety techniques, and training development and delivery.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to engage with employees, alliance partners, and contractors.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate and membership of a professional institute, such as CMIOSH.
