About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading civils contractor in the UK as a Quantity Surveyor. As a key member of the production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the contractual control and cost management across a wide range of projects for the region.

You will have exposure to the full project lifecycle, from initial enquiry through to project delivery. Your role will involve managing all commercial aspects relating to the projects, ensuring that the highest standards are maintained while achieving the company's strong values.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Understand and apply safety principles on sites and projects.
  2. Support the Safety Director and team in implementing safety policy and practice.
  3. Address any safety concerns promptly, with the support of the safety team and Directors as necessary.
  4. Provide technical advice on drawings to ensure each project has the correct documentation.
  5. Manage the end-to-end commercial aspects of assigned projects to maximise value, collaborating with the Finance and Procurement departments.
  6. Ensure all commercial accountabilities are undertaken in a timely manner, with a high degree of accuracy and measure.
  7. Analyse rates and prices, agree variations and/or compensation events as required.
  8. Identify and analyse potential debt risks, negotiate financial reconciliation with 3rd parties to provide reasonable solutions.
  9. Forecast monthly and annual profit figures, ensuring figures are maintained throughout the project's lifetime.
  10. Build strong working relationships with clients, including social networking.

About the Requirements:

  1. The ideal candidate will have experience in the groundworks and civil engineering industry, preferably in a similar role. They should be computer literate, with good financial and commercial acumen, and strong communication and organisational abilities.
  2. GCSEs with a minimum of 7 A-C / 5-9, including maths and English.
  3. Minimum 3 years' experience as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor and/or Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
  4. General knowledge of contractual terms within construction.
  5. Excellent PC skills, particularly in Excel.
  6. Skilled at gathering and interpreting data and information.
