Electronics Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer to join our team at People Source Consulting trading as Experis. As a key contributor to our product development team, you will provide electronics expertise and have the opportunity to take ownership of a wide range of tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop hardware and embedded software for manufacturing sensor and systems product solutions to support the needs of various industries, including Aerospace, Automotive, Nuclear, Manufacturing, Plant, Process Control, and Oil & Gas sectors.
  • Work closely with ultrasonics engineers and business development teams to meet client demands in products that will see service in explosive or hazardous environments.
  • Manage projects to develop sensor & system products to customers' sites across Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Nuclear, Fossil Fuel Energy, and Process Control following the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
  • Specify design requirements for electronic hardware, including in wireless and wired communication, data storage, power management, and integrating with analogue ultrasonic modules.
  • Diagnose performance of PCBA designs and components, testing prototypes for correct functionality, compliance, and certification, and ensure operational testing once in manufacture.
  • Debugging and customer-led modifications to software and capability.
  • Lead electronics design development within the scope of ATEX and IECEx explosive environment requirements.
  • Present progress and feedback from development activities to technical and commercial colleagues to support product development.
  • Support technical marketing activity and generate data to support presentations, case studies, and marketing communications.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of experience of designing digital circuits, including using embedded processors and FPGAs, digital signal processing, and filtering.
  • Programming of embedded software / firmware in a common language, such as C/C++.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, sensors, and monitoring system products within the Oil & Gas, Energy, and Process Control sectors.
  • Experience of working under a quality management system, including documentation control, change, and configuration management.
  • Excellent project management skills and experience of successful project delivery.
  • Good communication skills to articulate aspects of electronics development to other engineering disciplines.
  • Comfortable helping with any tasks and learning new skills in other engineering areas.
  • A degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering or related field.
  • Experience of EMC management and testing.
