Job Description

**Job Title:** Conservation Ecologist

**Job Type:** Full-time

**Location:** Hybrid remote in Sheffield

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Conservation Ecologist to join our team at Tomson Consulting Ltd. As a key member of our ecology team, you will work closely with landowners, developers, local authorities, businesses, farmers, and NGOs to deliver a range of services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct habitat and ecology surveys to support planning applications and research projects.
  • Produce high-quality ecology reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Preliminary Roost Assessments (PRAs), and Badger 'walkover' surveys.
  • Work with clients to understand their needs and develop effective solutions to achieve their ecological goals.
  • Collaborate with our team to deliver projects, including Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) provision, ecological surveys, and research & development projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues.

Requirements:

  • A degree grounded in, or related to, ecology, conservation, land management, or agriculture.
  • Experience in conducting habitat and ecology surveys, including Phase 1 and Phase 2 species surveys.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.
