About the Role

As a Technician with Network Rail, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of the railway network. You will work as part of a team to ensure that the railway is running smoothly and safely for passengers and freight users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions to maintain, inspect, and repair the track network, signalling systems, and electrification equipment.
  • Develop and maintain technical skills in areas such as signalling, telecoms, and track maintenance.
  • Work safely and efficiently, adhering to strict safety standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver work safely and efficiently.
  • Lead the team when required, using your skills to deliver work safely and checking that the team has the right competencies to meet safety standards.
Requirements
  • Leadership skills to lead, motivate, and direct a team for safe and efficient work delivery.
  • Effective communication skills to deliver clear instructions to the team and other colleagues.
  • Technical skills in inspection, faulting, maintenance, and renewal techniques in the discipline you are applying for.
  • Safety skills to consistently role model safe behaviours, arrange and implement safe systems of work, and challenge if you think a situation is unsafe.
  • Problem-solving skills to find safe and effective solutions.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills and competencies relevant to your discipline.
  • Relevant qualification, ideally NVQ Level 1 or 2 linked to the discipline you are applying for, or equivalent level of relevant experience.
