Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee commissions as a Commission Manager, ensuring comprehensive service delivery
  • Guarantee effective cost control service delivery to fulfill client objectives

Scope of Work

Cost Control Specialists manage projects of varying scales, typically ranging from £5m to £10m.

Key Duties

Commission Oversight, including:

  • Assist in feasibility assessments and procurement documentation
  • Estimating and cost planning using relevant methodologies
  • Managing tendering processes, including pre-qualification and tender analysis
  • Conducting contract administration tasks
  • Performing cost evaluations, valuations, and generating cost reports
  • Contributing to value engineering initiatives
  • Negotiating and finalizing accounts
  • Engaging with clients, Project Managers, and consultants
  • Collaborating with the project management team
  • Utilizing digital cost management tools and services
  • Supporting the execution of strategic initiatives
  • Managing internal fees, job costing, and resource allocation

Business Development and Marketing, including:

  • Identifying new business prospects and reporting to the line manager
  • Building a professional network
  • Assisting in the preparation of bid documentation
  • Providing insights for process enhancements

Internal Management Responsibilities, including:

  • Knowledge management
  • Process improvement initiatives
  • Mentoring junior staff members

Reporting Structure

Cost Control Specialists report to Senior Cost Managers or Associate Directors.

Candidate Profile

  • Ability to work independently
  • Self-driven and capable of delivering under tight deadlines
  • Working towards or having achieved Chartered Status
  • Professional and organized with strong collaborative skills
  • Ability to perform well under pressure

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in cost control
  • Degree or HNC level qualification
  • Professionally qualified (RICS or equivalent)
