Job Summary

Rochdale Boroughwide Housing is seeking a highly skilled CDM and Fire Risk Surveyor to join our team. As a key member of our health and safety department, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and leadership to promote a positive health and safety culture within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • To prepare comprehensive tender packages for various construction projects, ensuring compliance with statutory health and safety legislation.
  • Conduct thorough Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) in accordance with the organization's FRA Programme, covering a range of building types.
  • Carry out surveys and inspections of building fabric, including working at height on scaffolding, to identify potential fire safety risks.
  • Act as a 'competent person' in regards fire safety, providing expert guidance and support to colleagues.
  • Effectively adhere to and promote the organization's vision, mission, and corporate strategy, as well as the digital transformation strategy.
  • Manage and report on performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) for the relevant area.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal relationships with colleagues, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Represent the organization externally, building and maintaining effective business relationships and promoting the organization's profile.
  • Notify the CDM and Fire Risk Manager and/or relevant Head of Service about any operational risks that could impact the organization's stability and viability.

Requirements

  • A Construction-related degree, plus 3 years of project management experience, or other recognized higher education qualification in Building and/or Construction-related subject, with 5 years of project management experience.
  • A IFE/FPA accredited FRA qualification, or willingness to work towards.
  • Holding or working towards IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
  • Recognized project management qualification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the construction sector, CDM Regs 2015, Asbestos, Housing regulator, Fire Risk, and Management with regards to communal spaces and compartmentalization.
  • Knowledge and understanding of fire safety systems, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, Automatic Opening Vents, and sprinkler systems.
  • Ability to positively adapt to change and the ever-changing social housing sector.
  • Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to produce documents to a professional and accurate standard.
  • Effective mediation and negotiation skills to deliver positive outcomes.
