Manufacturing Operations Supervisor
Location: Newport
Salary: £35000 per annum
Position Overview:
- Oversee, organize, and manage the workforce involved in the production and assembly of materials and finished products.
- Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products to a diverse customer base, including retail and professional sectors.
- Advocate for the implementation of effective lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Support objectives related to safety, quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet weekly production targets while adhering to budgetary constraints.
- Adjust labor resources through agency personnel during peak demand periods.
- Drive departmental goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Foster and maintain a safe and healthy workplace environment.
- Continuously enhance production processes for improved efficiency.
- Assist with system and customer audits as necessary.
- Lead a diverse team using contemporary management techniques.
- Participate in monthly safety audits and health & safety improvement initiatives.
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement within production areas.
- Support the introduction of new products from a production standpoint.
- Evaluate and recommend capital investment opportunities.
- Ensure the accuracy of production and quality documentation.
- Manage inventory control within production zones.
- Facilitate effective communication with team members and local operations.
- Adhere to ISO9001 standards.
- Champion continuous improvement projects and initiatives.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and good manufacturing practices (GMP).
- Be available for shift work and overtime as needed.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and MRP systems.
- Education equivalent to 'A' level standard.
- Formal qualification in production management.
- Strong people management capabilities.
- Proficient in written English and Mathematics.
- Effective communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
- Background in production management or supervisory roles within a similar industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Several years of experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
- ILM/NVQ level 3/6 in production management.
- Professional certification in production management.
- Extensive experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement within the packaging or FMCG sectors.

- Ability to identify opportunities for innovation and solutions.
- Experience in internal auditing within lean environments.
