Position Overview

Join the Front Office Risk team at E1 EDF Trading Ltd, where you will play a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive risk assessments to the executive leadership. This position requires building robust relationships with trading teams, supported by a thorough understanding of the global energy landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary duties will include:

  • Engaging daily with Trading desks and Fundamental analysis teams to provide independent assessments and critically evaluate trading strategies.
  • Gaining an in-depth understanding of the daily factors influencing price fluctuations and their implications for the portfolios you oversee.
  • Monitoring the composition of the portfolios under your management on a daily basis.
  • Analyzing the key profit and loss drivers affecting the portfolios you manage on a daily basis.
  • When necessary, preparing detailed reports for management on specific trading positions to assess and analyze risk versus reward.
  • Creating articulate commentary for presentation during weekly executive meetings.
  • Collaborating with other support teams to escalate and address market, operational, and other risk-related issues as needed.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in risk management, valuations, or trading roles within an investment banking or energy trading environment.
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment methodologies for both linear and non-linear instruments, including: Value at Risk (VaR), back-testing, portfolio stress testing, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Experience in direct interactions with traders.
  • In-depth knowledge of various energy commodities such as Power, Gas, Oil, LNG, LPG, and Coal.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Excel, VBA, or other programming languages is preferred, particularly for analyzing complex datasets.
  • Experience in developing risk analytics tools using Excel or other platforms.

Candidate Profile

  • Exceptional mathematical and analytical abilities, with a solid foundation in statistics.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Preference for candidates holding an MSc in Finance, CQF, PRM, FRM, or ERP.
  • Familiarity with common commodity trading instruments, including physical forwards, swaps, options, and other derivatives.
  • Comprehensive understanding of option valuation techniques, particularly for exotic options.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for preparing and presenting materials to senior executives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong emphasis on the accuracy of information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic small team and provide support for colleagues as needed.

Work Schedule:

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
