Skanska, a leading project development and construction group, is seeking a Construction Director to join its Infrastructure team in Kent. This is a key position in the delivery of a major highways project, requiring strong leadership and strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership to the construction team, ensuring safe, on-budget, and on-programme delivery.
  • Lead the construction team in Health, Safety, and Wellbeing, and drive a progressive approach to reducing carbon emissions.
  • Collaborate with the Strategic Leadership Team to champion the project's vision, values, and behaviours.
  • Define the construction team's organisation, roles, and responsibilities, ensuring clear accountability and authority levels.
  • Support the design phase, ensuring an efficient and buildable design is produced, and challenge the design and construction teams to find innovative solutions.
  • Facilitate coordination, standardisation, and consistency across sections to deliver the best project outcomes.
  • Lead change and promote continual improvement, inclusivity, and best practice.
  • Manage supply chain arrangements and subcontracts efficiently.
  • Set clear targets for the construction team and regularly review performance against these targets.
  • Foster an inclusive culture to maximise team effectiveness and nurture future talent.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in delivering major highways schemes at Project Director level.
  • Extensive knowledge of highway construction methods and supply chain partners.
  • Progressive attitude to carbon reduction, social value, stakeholder management, and Inclusion and Diversity.
  • Experience in building and maintaining an inclusive culture.
