Job Title: SEN Lecturer

Job Type: Temporary

About the Role:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Lecturer to join our team at Lewisham College on a temporary basis. As a SEN Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning to students with Special Educational Needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Learning: Deliver the full Further Education and Training specification for SEN students as the main Lecturer for the class or group.
  • Lesson Planning and Coordination: Plan and coordinate lessons, resources, and support to enable learners to achieve their qualifications.
  • Progress Tracking and Attendance: Use the College's online systems to track progress and attendance.
  • Quality Delivery: Deliver interactive lessons to learners with clear lesson objectives.
  • Motivation and Inspiration: Motivate and inspire learners using up-to-date teaching methodology.
  • Homework and Assessment: Set and monitor regular, challenging homework in line with student abilities.
  • Quality Assurance: Keep in line with quality assurance (collect learner views, lesson observation, working through action plan).
  • Meetings and Training: Attend meetings and any training days/inset days.
  • Administrative Tasks: Ensure accurate completion of class registers at all times, stay on top of admin work and marking.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Have substantial experience in the Further Education and Training sector.
  • Qualifications: Hold a UK recognised teaching qualification (DTLLS, PCET, PGCE or QCF Level 5 Diploma in Education).
  • Previous Experience: Have previous experience working as a SEN Lecturer or Teacher and a successful record in retention and achievement.
  • GCSEs: Hold GCSEs in both Maths and English, at grade A-C or equivalent.
  • DBS: Hold a valid DBS registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
  • Teaching Experience: Proven experience of consistently good/outstanding teaching.
