About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled System Safety Engineer to join our team at Boeing. As a key member of our Defence UK team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our aircraft training systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement safety assessments for aircraft training systems, ensuring compliance with Defence Standard 00-056 and other relevant regulations.
  • Lead and develop safety evaluations for synthetic training equipment, influencing design to meet safety considerations.
  • Conduct hazard identification and analysis, and maintain hazard logs to ensure the safety of our systems.
  • Develop and maintain safety cases, safety case reports, and safety arguments to support our safety management systems.
  • Collaborate with other Boeing teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure the safety of our systems and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Support customer safety meetings and chair system safety working groups to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Identify and implement risks, issues, and opportunities, and develop mitigation plans to ensure the safety of our systems.
  • Apply relevant safety legislation and regulations to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Support the development, maintenance, review, and update of safety processes to ensure continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Formal system safety training and experience leading and developing safety assessments for aircraft training systems.
  • Proven experience in the Military Air environment, with application of Defence Standard 00-056, POSMS, and POEMS.
  • Experience developing safety management systems and in-service management of safety cases and hazard logs.
  • Experience with common safety tools, such as CASSANDRA, Adelard Assurance, and Safety Case Environment.
  • Strong communication skills, technical proficiency, and project management concepts/tools.
  • Diplomatic and strong-minded individual with ability to work with UK MOD customer, supplier, and wider Boeing interface.
  • Platform or system experience and product knowledge of UK military aircraft is highly desirable.
  • Completed or working towards a postgraduate qualification in System Safety Engineering is highly desirable.
Security Clearance

This position requires the ability to acquire a UK security clearance for which the Government requires UK Citizenship.
