Job Overview

In this role, you will report to the Systems Safety and Environmental Engineering Manager, collaborating closely with other safety leads and engineers to facilitate system safety development and manage in-service safety activities.

Key Responsibilities:
1.

Creation of Operational, Product, and System Safety documentation in compliance with Defence Standards for Land-Based Training systems and equipment, which includes:

a. Development of Project/Programme Safety Management Plans.
b. Identification of relevant legislation and regulations.
i. This includes a comparative analysis of international regulations and directives, primarily focusing on US and EU standards.
c. Conducting safety assessments for synthetic training equipment design.
i. This involves influencing design choices to adhere to safety considerations.
d.

Hazard Identification and Analysis tasks, including:
i. Preliminary Hazard Identification
ii. Functional Failure Analysis
iii. Operating and Support Hazard Analysis
iv. Occupational Health Hazard Analysis
e. Maintenance of Hazard Logs
f. Development of Safety Cases, Safety Case Reports, and Safety Arguments.

Ensure effective collaboration with Boeing, customer, and supplier technical teams to gather necessary evidence supporting the Safety Case.

3. Ensure that training delivery effectively incorporates functional and physical safety requirements.
4. Actively participate in customer safety meetings and lead System Safety Working Groups.
5. Support and, when appropriate, lead programme planning and safety activities for Training Services.
6. Identify, monitor, and manage risks, issues, and opportunities while assisting in the creation of mitigation strategies.
7. Recognize and apply relevant safety legislation and regulations.
8. Actively contribute to the ongoing development, maintenance, review, and enhancement of safety processes.

Additional responsibilities will include supporting the implementation of the Safety Management System within Training Services and aiding in the development of systems safety engineering plans and products across a wide array of services.
