About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal System Quality Engineer to join our team at British Gas. As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of quality assurance strategies, processes, and best practices across our complex systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Quality Assurance Team: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the System Quality Assurance team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, reliable systems to our customers.
  • Define Quality Assurance Strategy: Develop and implement quality assurance strategies, processes, and best practices for complex systems, ensuring alignment with industry-specific regulations and standards.
  • Plan and Execute Testing: Plan and execute testing and validation processes for complex systems, identifying and resolving quality gaps across the system's change development and run processes.
  • Drive Automation Adoption: Drive the adoption of automation frameworks and tools to streamline testing processes and increase productivity.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with systems engineers, developers, project managers, and product managers to integrate quality throughout the system development life cycle.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Participate in root cause analysis efforts in the event of critical defects or system failures, implementing corrective actions to prevent similar issues in the future.
Requirements
  • Proven Experience: Proven experience in system quality engineering, software testing, or a related field, with a focus on complex systems.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading a team of quality engineers.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with quality assurance of modern cloud applications (AWS/Azure), quality assurance of salesforce and react applications, and hands-on test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium/ADO).
  • Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of regulatory compliance and industry-specific standards related to system quality.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
