Employee Relations and HR Policy Manager

We are looking for a seasoned Employee Relations and HR Policy Manager to oversee and enhance our client’s Employee Relations function, organizational policies, and HR governance framework. This position plays a vital role in delivering a service-oriented HR experience, collaborating with HR Business Partners and Line Managers throughout the organization. The successful candidate will champion ongoing enhancements within the HR department, particularly in Employee Relations and policy oversight, ensuring adherence to regulations and operational efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities

Employee Relations (ER):

  • Direct and manage daily ER operations across various locations and departments.
  • Supervise ER case management, including intricate cases leading to tribunals.
  • Evaluate ER data, discern patterns, and propose enhancements.
  • Offer precise and timely guidance on ER issues to managers and key stakeholders.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners to strengthen managerial capabilities.
  • Establish and standardize ER procedures to guarantee quality and precision.

Policy Development and HR Governance:

  • Formulate, revise, and oversee HR policies to ensure alignment with legal requirements and organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with the broader HR team to design and implement new policies and procedures.
  • Ensure effective communication of all relevant policies and provide training for managers on their application.
  • Identify and address risks associated with policy non-compliance.

Employment Models Oversight:

  • Conduct regular assessments of casual and permanent employment structures to safeguard employee status and pinpoint risks.
  • Review and suggest enhancements to the employment model to ensure it meets organizational demands.

Wellbeing and Occupational Health Management:

  • Oversee and evaluate the Occupational Health Policy, ensuring it promotes a comprehensive approach to employee wellbeing.
  • Integrate ER policies with initiatives that foster emotional and physical health.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in Employee Relations and HR Policy management with a strong focus on customer service.
  • CIPD certification or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, motivate, and support line management.
  • Strong business acumen with the capability to manage and balance risks.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in a unionized environment or familiarity with Trade Union recognition processes.
  • Capacity to manage highly sensitive and confidential information with integrity.

This role is crucial for an HR professional aiming to significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of HR operations within a reputable organization.
