Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Flight Checker to join our team. As a Flight Checker, you will be responsible for ensuring that prepared meals meet the highest standards of quality and consistency. This involves conducting thorough checks on packed flights, verifying that meals match specifications and comply with menu cards. You will also be responsible for handling special meal requests and reporting any discrepancies to the Shift Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct final quality and quantity checks on packed flights to ensure exceptional standards of quality and consistency.
- Verify that meals match specifications and comply with menu cards, ensuring that all requirements are met.
- Handle special meal requests, including last-minute requests for additional meals or aircraft changes.
- Report any discrepancies or issues to the Shift Manager, ensuring prompt resolution and minimal disruption to operations.
- Work collaboratively with the team to maintain a safe and efficient working environment, adhering to health and safety protocols and procedures.
- Develop and implement systems to ensure quality and consistency, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Provide regular updates to managers on task status and progress, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and department heads, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
- Carry out all procedures in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to health and safety protocols and procedures.
Requirements
- Ability to work in a chilled environment, with a focus on maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.
- Working knowledge of basic hygiene and food safety protocols.
- Experience in a production or manufacturing environment, with a focus on quality control and assurance.
- Basic numerical and checking skills, with the ability to accurately verify meal specifications and quantities.
- Basic written and verbal English, with the ability to communicate effectively with the team and other departments.
- Ability to work under pressure, with a focus on maintaining a calm and professional demeanor in stressful situations.
- Physical skills, including movement, coordination, and dexterity, with the ability to lift, bend, and stretch as required.
- Ability to work independently, with a focus on self-motivation and initiative.
- Basic understanding of food safety, with a willingness to attend training and achieve Level 2 Food Safety certification.
- Problem-solving mentality, with the ability to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and department heads.
- Previous experience in a similar role or within the fresh food industry, with a focus on quality control and assurance.
- Excellent working knowledge of reporting and data analysis, with the ability to track and report on key performance indicators.
