We are currently seeking a dedicated Housekeeping Team Member to join our dynamic team, working up to 4 days a week, including weekends, from 10 AM to 3 PM. Flexibility is key, as there may be times when assistance is needed in our bustling café.

Located in the picturesque South Downs National Park, our establishment is easily accessible and features a variety of accommodations, including 68 beds in the hostel, LandPods, Pods, and Bell Tents. We cater to a diverse range of guests, from school groups to individuals exploring the South Downs Way, and our café is open to the public.

The Role: Enhancing Guest Satisfaction

As a Housekeeping Team Member, your contributions are vital in ensuring that every guest enjoys a memorable stay. Your commitment to cleanliness and efficiency is essential in fostering a welcoming atmosphere.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly cleaning and preparing guest rooms between arrivals and departures, ensuring a fresh and inviting environment.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of shower and toilet facilities to provide a safe and comfortable experience.
  • Keeping reception and communal areas tidy, creating a welcoming space for all visitors.
  • Executing housekeeping tasks efficiently while upholding high cleanliness standards throughout the hostel.
  • Adhering to YHA's guidelines for the use and storage of cleaning supplies, supporting our sustainability efforts.
  • Reporting any maintenance issues to the management team to ensure a safe environment.
  • Sorting and distributing linens, contributing to the comfort of our guests.

Skills and Experience We Appreciate

While prior experience in customer-facing roles is advantageous, it is not mandatory. Experience in hospitality or customer service is beneficial, and we value diverse lived experiences as much as formal skills.

Strong communication skills and excellent time management are essential. Familiarity with YHA's core mission and teamwork experience are also beneficial.

Please note that this role may involve physical demands, particularly as our accommodations primarily consist of bunk beds.
