We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Scientist to join our dynamic team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a Clinical Scientist, Radiation Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe use of radiation in our hospitals and clinics.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a senior member of our Radiation Safety Service, providing expert advice and guidance on radiation safety and protection.
- Lead on projects and areas of work related to radiation safety, including the development of new techniques and procedures.
- Provide specialist scientific support and advice to clinicians and other staff on complex issues related to radiation safety.
- Collaborate with clinical colleagues to optimize clinical protocols and procedures.
- Develop and implement training programs for staff on radiation safety and protection.
- Conduct research and development activities to stay up-to-date with new developments in radiation safety and protection.
- Initial degree in a numerate subject and MSc in a relevant subject.
- HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist and evidence of post-qualification specialist training.
- Enrolled on a recognized CPD scheme.
- Experience and skills to be recognized as a Medical Physics Expert or ability to gain recognition as an MPE within 2 years.
- Expert theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of patient and staff risks arising from clinical failure and staff error.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information at a postgraduate level.
- Advanced negotiation skills with staff groups across the Trust.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
