Job Description

As a key member of the Transport Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a smooth transition when loading, unloading trailers, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to company rules, site procedures, and Health & Safety guidelines at all times.
  • Effectively manage working time in line with the Road Transport Directive.
  • Liaise with colleagues and complete shift reports.
  • Conduct daily checks, report defects and damage, and complete associated documentation.
  • Carry out trailer checks, report to ops staff, and complete trailer checklists.
  • Perform shunting duties, including maintenance and safety checks.
  • Liaise with warehouse control and goods-in staff for efficient loading and unloading.
  • Complete vehicle downloads as per company policy.
  • Monitor services and MOTs, liaise with Transport Office and service vendors.
  • Assist with fuel delivery and manual dip of fuel.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy yard.
  • Liaise with Transport Office as required for special promotions and livery schedules.
  • Manage traffic flow in and out of the yard.
Requirements
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Adaptable and methodical approach to work and training.
  • Conscientious and reliable.
  • Excellent communication skills for accurate information delivery.
  • Able to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
  • Effectively prioritise workload to meet set deadlines.
  • Able to work as part of a team or individually.
  • Able to work effectively and communicate at the correct level.
  • Knowledge of the Road Transport Directive and current drivers' hours.
  • Professional, approachable, and helpful to ensure smooth operation.
  • Maintain a high standard of behaviour and appearance.
