Yard Operations Specialist

As a key member of the Transport Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a smooth transition when loading, unloading trailers, and maintaining safety and maintenance standards at all times.
Key Responsibilities- Adhere to company rules, site procedures, and Health & Safety and Hygiene guidelines at all times.
- Effectively manage working time in line with the Road Transport Directive.
- Liaise with colleagues and ensure completion of shift reports.
- Conduct daily checks, report any defects or damage, and complete associated documentation.
- Carry out trailer checks on loaded trailers and report to ops staff.
- Complete trailer checklists and report to the operations desk.
- Perform shunting duties, including relevant maintenance and safety checks.
- Liaise with warehouse control and goods-in staff to ensure smooth and efficient loading/unloading of trailers.
- Complete vehicle downloads as per company policy.
- Monitor services/MOTs, liaise with Transport Office, and service vendors.
- Assist with fuel delivery/manual dip of fuel.
- Maintain a clean and tidy yard.
- Liaise with Transport Office as required for special promotions and livery schedules.
- Manage the flow of traffic in and out of the yard.
- Attention to detail/accuracy.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Adaptable and methodical approach to work/training.
- Conscientious and reliable.
- Excellent communication skills to deliver accurate information.
- Able to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Effectively prioritise workload to meet set deadlines.
- Able to work as part of a team or individually.
- Able to work effectively and communicate to the correct level.
- Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers' hours.
- Professional, approachable, and helpful to ensure smooth running of the general operation.
- Maintain a high standard of behaviour and appearance.
