About the Role

This is a key and fast-paced position in a busy community CAMHS team. The post holder will be required to undertake initial assessments for children and young people referred into the service, ensuring safeguarding, risk management, and care planning are implemented to the highest standard. The role involves working with a diverse case load of young people with complex emotional needs, requiring significant attention to detail particularly around risk management in the community. The post holder will coordinate and work with external agencies such as social care and education, and have the opportunity to co-facilitate groups and treatment alongside multidisciplinary team colleagues to offer evidence-based care.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Conduct initial assessments for children and young people referred to the service.
  2. Provide ongoing direct intervention and support to young people and their families.
  3. Contribute to the formulation and care planning for children and families, and take the lead for cases that require complex multi-agency involvement.
  4. Participate in delivering group interventions and represent CAMHS in professional forums and complex networks.
  5. Work within the legal and policy frameworks that govern the service.
Requirements
  • Registered Professional Qualification in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, or a related discipline.
  • NMC, HPC, or Social Work England Registration.
  • Post Basic Courses or Study Days.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and a professional portfolio.
Experience
  • Post qualification experience working with people with mental health problems.
  • Understanding and contribution to the Clinical Governance Agenda.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Risk assessment experience.
