The role is situated at our state-of-the-art Blood Centre in Filton, Bristol, recognized as the largest blood manufacturing facility globally.

You will participate in a comprehensive induction and training program, receiving continuous development to assist you in your role and achieving your professional aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of a dedicated team of procurement experts, you will be responsible for negotiating and overseeing a range of essential commercial contracts and framework agreements for the supply of goods and services to NHSBT.

Collaborating with Senior Commercial Managers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, you will manage the contracting process from start to finish, ensuring that the needs of all parties involved are met.

You will support the National Contracts Managers and National Procurement Manager in delivering contracts that are robust, legally binding, and cost-effective. This ensures that NHSBT can demonstrate best value for money on its contracted non-pay expenditures and meet savings targets.

Your role will include supplier management to guarantee the delivery of expected benefits from contracts and monitor supplier performance, including supplier development where applicable.

You will ensure compliance with Public Contract Regulations, including mandated directives, policy notes, and NHSBT Standing Orders and Financial Instructions.

Occasional travel away from your base may be required to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.

  • Must have education at GCSE level, including Mathematics and English Language, or demonstrate relevant experience.
  • Willingness to pursue the Member of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) qualification or an equivalent.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is required.

  • Experience in a computerized office environment, preferably in procurement or logistics.
  • Familiarity with formal contracting and drafting amendments.
  • Understanding of legislation pertaining to goods and services.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience utilizing IT systems to generate timely, professional, and accurate reports and correspondence, including financial data.
