Senior Medical Director

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Medical Director to lead our Clinical Safety and Pharmacovigilance team at GlaxoSmithKline. As a key member of our Global Safety organization, you will be responsible for defining and driving the strategy and vision of clinical safety and pharmacovigilance activities in alignment with our Global Safety business strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Scientific/Medical Knowledge and Expertise
- Expert in clinical safety and pharmacovigilance activities, with a strong understanding of international pharmacovigilance requirements.
- Demonstrated record of sound judgement and decision making in safety evidence generation, benefit-risk assessment, causality assessment, evaluation of safety signals, and proactive risk management strategies.
- Coaches and mentors colleagues in the scientific/medical aspects of signal evaluation methodology and risk management.
- Provides excellent medical/scientific judgment, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach in drug safety.
- Leadership and Collaboration
- Leads cross-functional teams to drive change and implement strategic plans.
- Interfaces with senior governance committees and assumes ad hoc membership.
- Collaborates with global teams to ensure alignment with business strategies.
- Regulatory and Compliance
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Manages labelling changes, physician and patient education, and monitoring of safety issues.
- Communication and Stakeholder Management
- Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and healthcare professionals.
- Provides regular updates on safety issues and risk management strategies.
- Comprehensive experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, working in drug safety or pharmacovigilance.
- Significant pharmacovigilance experience relating to safety evaluation and risk management, encompassing both clinical development and post-marketing activities.
- Knowledge of international pharmacovigilance requirements and industry standards.
