Job Title: Head of Maintenance

Maxwell Stephens Recruitment is seeking an experienced Head of Maintenance to join our client, a leading university in the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of maintenance professionals and ensuring the effective delivery of maintenance services across the university estate.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of maintenance professionals to deliver maintenance services across the university estate.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies and delivery models tailored to the needs of the university and its diverse estate.
  • Manage the supply chain of contractors and ensure they meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Oversee the delivery of maintenance services, both planned and reactive, ensuring they meet operational, safety, and legislative standards.
  • Drive safety standards across all maintenance functions and ensure compliance with policies, conducting risk assessments, and delivering health and safety training.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in delivering maintenance and small works to industry standards.
  • Expertise in statutory compliance, safety regulations, and the auditing of maintenance and compliance data.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate large teams, handle complex customer-focused environments, and meet SLA and KPI targets.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Relevant professional health & Safety qualifications (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH).
