Higher Level Teaching Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Secondary School in Exeter. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education and support to students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Support individual and small groups of students to enhance their learning experience.
  • Cover classes and deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the teacher.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to develop and implement individualised learning plans.
  • Provide feedback to students and help track their academic progress.
  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour and creating a positive learning environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos and values of the school.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the secondary school curriculum KS3-KS4.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN).
