Role Overview:
Lead the establishment of a new production site in Sheffield, facilitating the revival of manufacturing capabilities for our products in the UK. Utilize advanced manufacturing operations expertise to develop and implement processes and systems that achieve world-class production standards. Oversee multiple diverse teams of professionals primarily focused on operational tasks. Drive the formulation and execution of the operational strategy, collaborating closely with business service teams and program teams to ensure alignment and enhance performance.
In this role, you will:
- Formulate policies and ensure effective delivery within your area of responsibility, coordinating with other organizational sectors.
- Allocate resources efficiently, with detailed planning and preparation of work packages.
- Meet stakeholder and customer expectations while delivering operational excellence.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in manufacturing and production settings.
- Previous leadership experience in nurturing and developing teams in a new environment.
- Experience in a multi-functional domain, ideally within high-tech R&D environments.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively across a large organization.
- Capability to deliver strategic objectives while ensuring consistent operational performance.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in high-rate production environments.
- Prior experience in establishing new manufacturing facilities or production lines, lean manufacturing, Black Belt, Industry 4.0.
This position is integral to Weapon Systems UK, which designs, builds, and supports artillery systems and naval guns utilized globally. BAE Systems is revitalizing production of products, including the M777 Howitzer, to meet increasing demand.
A new manufacturing facility is being established in Sheffield, and your role will involve setting up the facility, assembling the team, and ensuring production capacity for these sophisticated systems.
This unique opportunity within BAE Systems allows you to leverage your manufacturing expertise to establish this brand-new facility.
In addition to existing platform orders, Weapon Systems UK is heavily investing in new R&D projects, leading to increased demand for manufacturing and production at the Sheffield site.
