About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our Primary Care Mental Health Services team at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage the mental health needs of individuals within a primary care setting, taking responsibility for a clinical caseload.
  • Deliver brief, short-term, and low-intensity psychological interventions, based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focused approaches, to individuals with common mental health disorders.
  • Provide information, CCBT, and self-help resources to individuals with common mental health disorders, and assist in the running of psycho-educational groups.
  • Mental Health promotion, involving the development of effective relationships between primary care and local communities, and other services in the voluntary and statutory sector.
  • Provide support and advice to General Practitioners and other primary care providers.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (Mental Health), or Social Worker, Occupational Therapist.
  • Evidence of post-registration continuing professional development activity.
  • Relevant degree-level qualification.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant degree-level qualification.
  • Experience in a range of clinical settings.
  • Teaching experience.
Key Skills and Knowledge
  • Organisational ability and time management skills.
  • Clinical assessment and formulation skills.
  • Teaching and presentation skills.
  • Ability to facilitate patient groups.
  • Postgraduate training or CBT/counselling skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and awareness of current evidence base relevant to the area of practice.
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering of psycho-educational interventions.
  • An understanding of resource implications of clinical decision making.
