Job Opportunity with Butler Ross
We are supporting a long-term client in the automotive sector, who are looking to recruit a Technical Buyer to support their team on an interim basis. This is a hybrid-working position with the flexibility to work from home 2-3 days a week and offering a competitive day rate. Ideally the client would be looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commercial Relationship Management: Manage the commercial relationship with suppliers, ensuring a continuous supply of required goods and materials.
- Negotiation and Contract Management: Negotiate contracts, improved prices, and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities to make business savings using negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
- Cost Reduction and Efficiency: Identify cost reduction, value-added (VA)/value-engineering (VE) opportunities, and lead the commercial element to improve operational efficiency.
- Supply Chain Management: Ensure a continuous supply of required goods and materials, communicate any supply problems that may pose a risk or impact on business operations, and assess and evaluate suppliers.
- Purchasing and Sourcing: Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Process Improvement: Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance, and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
- Supplier Management: Research and build working relationships with new suppliers and subcontractors, and support product change requests.
Requirements:
- Experience: Experience working in an automotive or technical manufacturing environment, stakeholder management, supplier/customer relationship management, and cost reduction activities.
- Skills: Understanding of cost drivers in a manufacturing environment, experience sourcing injection moulding parts/components, and ability to understand/interpret engineering drawings.
