Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Transportation and Logistics Manager to join our team at Reed Talent Solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Road Logistics Department to ensure that business objectives relating to cost, safety, and service are met while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement a Logistics Strategy: Develop and implement an effective road and rail logistics strategy to achieve company objectives.
  • Manage a Fleet of Vehicles: Manage a fleet of internally owned HGV vehicles and additional haulier contractors.
  • Lead a Team: Manage an office-based team including a transport manager and a team of logistics planners.
  • Assess Business Needs: Assess medium and long-term business road and rail logistics needs and adapt the operating model accordingly.
  • Manage Third-Party Contractors: Manage and engage with key third-party logistics contractors.
  • Implement a Health and Safety Program: Implement and manage an effective HSE program that aligns with the company's HSE strategy.
  • Oversee Logistics Movements: Overall responsibility for between 400 and 500 logistics movements daily.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 5 years' experience in senior logistics management.
  • Transport Compliance: Understanding of transport compliance.
  • Transport Modes: Proven experience of various modes of transport including RoRo, Skips, Arctic, and Trains.
  • Qualifications: Transport Management CPC qualification is essential.
  • Industry Experience: Experience working in a unionized industry would be beneficial.
