About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team at DWP Digital. As a key member of our engineering community, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining government digital services that make a real difference to people's lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the production of software solutions of the highest quality, using modern JavaScript/Node.JS technologies, frameworks, and design principles.
  • Develop and maintain cloud-based environments, including AWS and Azure, and ensure seamless integration with APIs, RESTful services, and Microservice Architectures.
  • Design and implement robust automated test suites to support continuous deployment environments, using Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to drive delivery, ensure standards, and build a supportive and collaborative culture.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including researchers, analysts, designers, architects, testers, and more.
Requirements
  • Expert knowledge and extensive experience of modern JavaScript/Node.JS technologies, frameworks, and design principles.
  • Extensive experience of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) practices and techniques.
  • Knowledge and experience of APIs, RESTful services, and Microservice Architectures.
  • Expert knowledge and extensive experience of developing on cloud-based environments like AWS and Azure.
  • Knowledge and experience of SQL and NoSQL database applications such as Postgres, MySQL, and MongoDB.
  • Experience and skills required to build up a useful, robust automated test suite to support a continuous deployment environment.
  • Experience of leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, communicating with stakeholders, driving delivery, ensuring standards, ways of working, and building a supportive and collaborative culture.
