We are currently in search of a Rail Operations Specialist to become a vital part of our welcoming team, supporting our operations in a key location. This position plays a crucial role in our extensive quarry operations.

This role is accessible from various surrounding areas.

Please note that this position requires night shifts, with start times scheduled to align with our operational needs.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate for the Rail Operations Specialist role will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Timely and complete train loading
  • Shunting operations and locomotive management
  • Conducting inspections of rail, track, and equipment
  • Operating both mobile and stationary machinery to support broader business objectives
  • Playing a key role in all rail-related activities
  • Assisting in resolving operational challenges with the support of our production teams
  • Exemplary time management skills are essential
  • Contributing to ongoing improvements by identifying and acting on opportunities to enhance processes and services
The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the Rail Operations Specialist position will possess or be willing to pursue training in the following areas:

  • Secondary education or equivalent qualifications
  • NVQ/QCF level 2 in rail operations or a related field is advantageous; however, training will be provided to the successful candidate if necessary
  • Experience in rail operations, particularly in shunting or driving, is preferred
  • Proficiency in computer usage
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment is beneficial, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and suppliers
