The ideal candidate will be positive, motivated, and capable of engaging, encouraging, and mentoring young individuals while ensuring a fun and supportive atmosphere.

Salary: £28,777 - £32,017 (including sleep allowance)

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: Full-time - 40 hours per week plus sleep-ins

Shift Pattern: 2 on 4 off

As a Youth Support Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Encouraging young individuals to engage in activities and take charge of their lives according to their age.
  • Maintaining a warm and friendly atmosphere within the homes.
  • Addressing challenging behaviors as necessary.
  • Safeguarding children and young people from health and welfare risks.
  • Providing support to the young individuals in the home and promoting their independence and well-being.
  • Ensuring a safe environment for all young people.
  • Keeping up-to-date knowledge of each individual's care plan, guidelines, reward systems, and preferred communication methods.
  • Supporting challenging behaviors in a safe and compassionate manner.
  • Building and sustaining positive working relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the lives of the young individuals.

Requirements:

  • NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Experience in a residential children's home setting is preferred but not essential.
  • A full driving license is mandatory as transportation of children may be required.
  • Ability to work the designated shift pattern (8 am - 10 pm plus sleep-ins).
