Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As an Electrical Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for performing complex and non-routine electrical maintenance tasks, including fault finding, diagnosis, repair, and calibration of a wide range of engineering plant and equipment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical maintenance tasks in accordance with Trust safety standards and procedures.
  • Undertake maintenance, repairs, and minor improvements across the Trust as directed by management.
  • Assist the Electrical Operations Officer in delivering business plans and reviewing planned maintenance procedures.
  • Work in accordance with electrical HTMs, statutory regulations, and Trust policies.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner following risk assessments.
  • Subject to availability, work overtime to carry out emergency repairs as required by management.
  • Undertake technical fault finding on complex electrical systems and equipment.
  • Act as Authorised Person (AP) for relevant systems such as LV/HV Electrical Systems and Lifts.
  • Provide service lead role for areas covered as AP, including providing plans/schedules related to maintenance activities and major interruptions.

Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with a minimum of one year's post-qualification experience working in an electrical maintenance environment. Essential criteria include a structured training programme in electrical engineering, HNC/HND/BTEC/ONC in electrical and electronic engineering, and 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations Certificate. Desirable criteria include emergency first aid training, experience of working with specialist medical electrical systems, and inspection and testing of generators and fire alarm systems.

Skills and Ability

We are looking for an individual with good communication skills, ability to self-manage and work without supervision, and adaptability to change. Manual handling training and health and safety awareness for Prefabricated Scaffold Towers are desirable.
