The Signalling Testing and Commissioning Practice is an enthusiastic team, keen to embrace modern systems, methodologies, and concepts within the necessary regulatory framework.
We are looking for a driven and organized professional to lead the functional testing of projects of varying sizes and complexities.
You should be able to demonstrate your capability to perform under pressure and utilize your initiative while operating within a highly regulated environment.
Do you possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage and communicate effectively with personnel at all levels?
Are you capable of fostering the development of your team members and providing training as opportunities arise, acting as a Lead Mentor or Mentor for staff as necessary, including actively promoting their technical growth as railway signalling engineers?
The role primarily involves site-based work on projects, which may require overnight stays for extended periods and working during unsocial hours. A full UK driving license is essential.
Qualifications:
- Must possess NR Certificate of Competence (CofC) or have held it within the last five years.
- Must hold an IRSE License as a Functional Tester or have held it within the last five years.
- Experience in railway signalling functional testing with diverse project exposure to Location/Interlocking level and specific equipment expertise.
- NWR 3B/4 testing competency certification and/or recognized equipment-specific specialization.
- Strong understanding of the Network Rail Signal Works Testing Handbook.
- A1 IRSE assessor for all testing categories except TIC, principles, and systems testing (desirable).
- Good knowledge of Railway Group/NWR company standards requirements.
- Strong personnel management and communication skills.
- Able to perform under pressure during peak workloads and commissioning phases.
- Current Driving License.
- Ability to perform COSS duties as required.
- Conduct functional testing of relay-based and CBI interlocking systems and test 4-foot trackside equipment.
- Collaborate and assist other testing teams as necessary.
- Support the Tester in Charge in assessing the testing resource needs for specific tasks.
- Provide upward updates on project testing status to the Tester in Charge.
- Ensure compliance with AtkinsRéalis standards, procedures, and processes encompassing all engineering, safety, administrative, and project requirements.
- Contribute to quality, safety, and environmental objectives and support AtkinsRéalis's commitment to continuous improvement.
- Execute testing and commissioning of signalling equipment to meet contract specifications, performance, and safety standards.
- Plan daily work for the team and monitor progress, reporting to the Tester in Charge as needed.
- Efficiently raise and close out Test Logs.
- Encourage the development of team members and actively provide training as opportunities arise.
- Serve as a signalling works Mentor for staff as required, promoting their technical advancement as railway signalling engineers.
- Support performance appraisals, attend training sessions, and maintain an IRSE logbook to an acceptable standard.
- Advance individual knowledge and skills to foster professional growth.
