Job Title: Assistant Head of Social Video

Metro is seeking a highly skilled and experienced social video professional to join our London team as Assistant Head of Social Video. This role requires a deep understanding of social video platforms, particularly TikTok, and the ability to work at pace while ensuring legal and ethical compliance.

The successful candidate will lead a team of social video journalists across multiple verticals, producing engaging, creative, and journalistically strong videos that tap into algorithms and deliver strong numbers. They will also be responsible for helping the Head and Deputy Head of Social Video develop new formats and execute strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead social video journalists to produce high-quality content that meets the needs of our audience
  • Develop and implement social video strategies that align with the overall business strategy
  • Collaborate with editorial teams to ensure video output aligns with the overall strategy of the business
  • Work with departments across the business to ensure the social video team has everything it needs
  • Help build a strong voice across our video output

Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience working in a newsroom or other relevant media environment
  • Strong experience in creating engaging and social-first video content
  • Deep knowledge of how TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube operate
  • Technical proficiency in multimedia technology, including Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience filming in a studio and on location using cameras, lighting, and audio equipment
  • Experience managing a team or delegating tasks
