We are seeking a dedicated and positive individual to join our team of Personal Support Assistants (PSAs) who play a vital role in promoting independent living.
The ideal candidate will assist an individual with varying impairments that may affect mobility, dexterity, and overall well-being. The person we support is a vibrant 57-year-old female who brings creativity and humor to daily life.
Compensation and Hours:
The position offers a competitive rate of £13 per hour, with flexible hours available, totaling approximately 18 hours per week based on individual needs and assistant availability. Coverage is required for morning and evening routines throughout the week, along with daytime activities on multiple occasions.
Key Responsibilities:
Your role will involve assisting with daily activities and tasks that may vary depending on the day and specific requirements. Responsibilities include:
- Supporting personal care routines such as bathing and dressing.
- Assisting with household chores and errands.
- Facilitating community engagement, including shopping, social visits, and recreational activities.
- Participating in hobbies and projects, such as gardening and DIY tasks.
- Encouraging the individual to pursue personal goals while providing motivation and support.
Building a strong rapport is essential to understand the individual's preferences and needs. We value assistants who are enthusiastic, share a sense of humor, and can provide a supportive environment. You will learn to gauge when to encourage activity and when to allow for rest, ensuring a balance between support and independence.
Most interactions will be on a one-on-one basis, but teamwork will also be necessary. Training will primarily occur on the job, with opportunities for shadowing and formal training available.
The position requires an enhanced DBS disclosure, which will be covered by the employer.

- Reliability and trustworthiness.
- A strong ability to build relationships and understand individual needs.
- Enthusiasm and a fun approach to work, with an appreciation for humor.
- Comfort with dogs and adherence to guidelines regarding interactions with a trainee Assistance Dog.
- Flexibility and strong communication skills.
- Independence and initiative while respecting the individual's wishes.
- Previous experience as a Personal Assistant is a plus, but a willingness to learn is more critical.
- A valid driving license is preferred for transportation to activities.
- Empathy and sensitivity in challenging situations.
- Willingness to engage in various activities that support mental health and well-being.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Vaccination status to ensure safety from viruses.
