Lead Parliamentary Clerk

Position Overview:

As a Senior Clerk within the Committee/Chamber Office, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Members of the Scottish Parliament. This position is integral to the legislative process, allowing you to engage with significant political matters and contribute to the democratic framework of Scotland.

Location:
Hybrid working model, allowing flexibility between office and remote work.

Leave Entitlement:
Enjoy a generous leave package of 41.5 days, inclusive of public holidays, to be utilized during designated recess periods.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time role, but we are open to discussions regarding flexible working arrangements to promote a healthy work-life balance.

Pension Scheme:
Eligible for the Civil Service pension plan, featuring an employer contribution of 28.97% of your basic annual salary.

Security Clearance:
CTC security clearance will be required and processed upon job offer.

Role Responsibilities:
- Support Members of the Scottish Parliament in examining and debating crucial issues affecting the public.
- Assist in holding the Scottish Government accountable and in the formulation of new legislation.
- Communicate complex information clearly and effectively, ensuring accessibility for all stakeholders.
- Investigate current political topics, gather evidence, and facilitate public engagement with Parliament.
- Provide procedural and protocol advice to Members of the Scottish Parliament.

Candidate Profile:
We seek motivated individuals with a strong understanding of Scotland's political landscape and a keen interest in current affairs. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building and maintaining relationships within and outside the Parliament.
