Position Overview

As a Service Engineering Specialist, your main responsibility will be to guarantee the secure execution of all service-related projects.

Your duties will primarily involve servicing, upgrades, and life extension of switchgear and related equipment, which may vary in nature and will be conducted at various SIM facilities and client locations, both domestically and internationally.

Detailed Job Responsibilities

Our ultimate goal is to provide SIM customers with an exceptional experience regarding SIM Switchgear's products and services.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Responding to inquiries from existing clients regarding technical support, guidance, and future service options.
  • Creating quotations for service-related tasks.
  • Conducting pre-mobilization activities, including project-specific risk assessments and method statements.
  • Promoting a proactive and collaborative approach to health and safety at SIM and client locations.
  • Executing all necessary service-related tasks safely at SIM and client locations, including switchgear maintenance, upgrades, life extension projects, protection relay testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Participating in safety, competency, and task-related training as identified by the organization.
  • When necessary, being part of the out-of-hours call-out service.
  • Ensuring timely submission of all reports and expenses.
  • SIM Switchgear reserves the right to assign additional tasks and responsibilities as needed.

Communication Skills

This role requires a high level of verbal and written communication skills, both with clients and other departments essential for delivering effective service.

Education and Experience

  • Ideally, the candidate will have completed a time-served apprenticeship in electrical engineering.
  • Minimum educational qualification of ONC level in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with producing technical reports.
  • Experience in the fundamentals of electrical switchgear, including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience in offshore/marine environments.
  • Experience in a challenging, customer-focused setting.
