About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Community Older Person's Mental Health Primary Care service in Swansea. As a key member of our team, you will provide specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions to patients with organic and functional mental health disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a defined caseload within the specialist area, using evidence-based principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  • Organize caseload efficiently and effectively, prioritizing clinical needs and utilizing time effectively.
  • Ensure accurate and timely clinical records, reporting to relevant stakeholders as required.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to identify relevant goals and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to junior staff, as delegated by supervisor or team leader.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.
  • Participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and develop skills and knowledge through the Band 6 Development Programme and other developmental activities.
Requirements
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent qualification.
  • Professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience of autonomous caseload management, comprising assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation within a relevant clinical area.
  • Understanding of the Occupational Therapy process, with a focus on dementia and mental health.
  • Broad knowledge of current best practice in Occupational Therapy, particularly with designated client groups.
  • Experience of research and/or audit, and implementing evidence-based practice.
  • Previous experience of supervising staff.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Accredited fieldwork supervisor for the education of OT students.
  • Ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post.
