Key Responsibilities- Produce accurate and reliable financial information, collaborating with the finance team to meet financial procedures and timetables.
- Establish effective working relationships with budget holders, ensuring they understand financial issues relevant to their services and providing guidance on complex finance queries.
- Support the Senior Financial Analyst in budget-setting and maintaining a large portfolio of services across one or more divisions.
- Contribute to the Cost and Income Improvement Programme reporting for a defined portfolio of services.
- Liaise with Finance Team staff to ensure timely, accurate monthly financial reporting, investigate variances, and correct errors.
- Provide financial information and advice to budget holders, supporting decision-making and referring complex issues to the Senior Financial Analyst.
- Undertake detailed financial analysis to understand variances, including using non-financial data like activity performance against targets.
- Provide monthly summaries of progress against CIIP schemes within areas of responsibility.
- Support the production of final accounts by following instructions from the Head of Statutory Accounts regarding year-end procedures.
- Assist the Cost and Income Accountant in completing business cases, Service Line Reporting, and cost reviews.
- Understand the financial implications of customer contracts and assess compliance with the Contracts team and external stakeholders.
- Experience working in a finance team with strong knowledge of financial systems and processes.
- Ability to manage workloads, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while producing accurate financial reports.
- Strong understanding of MS Excel, including pivot tables, data filters, sumif, vlookup, and other financial analysis tools.
- Experience in providing financial advice and complex data interpretation to non-financial staff.
- Experience working within an NHS or similar organization.
