Position OverviewIT Applications Specialist | Remote | Approx. 45K


The IT Applications Specialist will play a crucial role in providing support, maintenance, and enhancements to the organization's application suite, which includes SaaS, on-premise, and cloud-based solutions.

As a member of the IT Applications Management team, the individual will deliver third-line support for issues escalated from the Service Desk, identify and manage problems until resolution, ensure all applications are effectively managed for capacity and availability, and implement service improvements for various business units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the organization's application suite across diverse vendors
  • Ensure all applications operate, are maintained, and are accessible in accordance with IT service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Manage and resolve incidents and service requests following established Group IT processes and SLA targets
  • Foster strong working relationships with third-party vendors
  • Oversee the maintenance of the Group's SQL databases
  • Collaborate closely with IT infrastructure and architecture teams to enhance and deploy new solutions and service improvements
  • Deliver proactive problem management strategies for significant incidents and issues within agreed timelines, both internally and with third-party vendors
  • Contribute to the Group's service improvement initiatives in alignment with IT Service Management
  • Assist in the development and execution of the IT Applications Roadmap to support business needs through new and improved applications
  • Provide out-of-hours support on a rotational basis with other IT teams
  • Ensure that application modifications are documented and submitted for approval
  • Assist in creating business cases for future application projects
  • Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery planning
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation
Essential Qualifications

  • Significant experience in hands-on Applications Management
  • Proficient in quickly identifying and diagnosing issues
  • Daily management of third-party suppliers
  • Experience with SQL, preferably in a cloud environment
  • Ability to document application design, including process mapping and business workflows
  • Experience working at an enterprise level is preferred
Desirable Skills

  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • Experience in Business Analysis
  • Familiarity with Dealer Management Systems (e.g., Kerridge Autoline)
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, including Sage Payroll Cloud 50 P11D and Sage 200
  • SQL report writing capabilities
  • Understanding of Windows operating systems (Client Server)
  • Knowledge of Windows security measures, including antivirus products, DLP, and firewalls
  • Experience with PowerShell
