Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time

NHS SCOTLAND

Senior Clinical Fellow in Transplant & HPB Surgery

Reference: TG1763

NHS Scotland is dedicated to promoting equality and diversity within our workforce, ensuring that unlawful discrimination is eliminated. Our goal is to have a workforce that is truly representative, where every employee feels valued and empowered to perform at their best.

In line with this commitment, NHS Scotland encourages applications from all segments of society.

We are fully supportive of candidates with disabilities, long-term conditions, or neurodivergent individuals by implementing reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policies and practices.

We invite applications for the Fixed Term, full-time (40 hours per week) position based at the Royal Infirmary.

This role is designed for an ST7/8 or equivalent specialty registrar or an immediate post-CCT fellow seeking to enhance their expertise in advanced hepatobiliary surgery and multi-organ transplantation. The position will provide comprehensive experience in liver, pancreas, and renal transplantation, as well as live donor kidney donation and deceased donor organ donation, including innovative organ perfusion technologies.

The successful candidate will also gain proficiency in both open and laparoscopic management of complex HPB conditions, whether benign or malignant. Therefore, candidates should possess substantial prior training in Transplant and/or HPB surgery. The role will involve emergency responsibilities on the transplant registrar rota, encompassing multi-organ retrieval and transplantation, alongside elective sessions at the Royal Infirmary.

This position is suitable for an individual who has completed general surgical training and is eager to acquire in-depth training in transplant and/or HPB surgery, ultimately leading to independent clinical practice.

The post holder will primarily be stationed at the Royal Infirmary, but will be required to conduct multi-organ retrievals at various hospitals across Scotland and the UK.

For further detailed departmental and specialty information, please refer to the job description available through the appropriate channels.

We cannot accept CVs as a form of application; only a completed online application form will be considered. Personal information will not accompany the application for shortlisting purposes. The application will be identified solely by the candidate number to ensure equal treatment of all applicants.

***Please note: Late applications cannot be accepted, so ensure your application is submitted in a timely manner.***
