Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients with mental health conditions, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of mental health services within the organization.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and expertise in adult psychiatry, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with mental health conditions.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of mental health services, including service redesign and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide education and training to junior staff and students, including medical students and junior doctors.
  • Participate in research and audit activities, including the development of research proposals and the implementation of audit projects.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) as a specialist in adult psychiatry.
  • Experience of working in a mental health setting, including experience of providing clinical leadership and expertise in adult psychiatry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to develop and implement treatment plans and contribute to service redesign and quality improvement initiatives.
