About the Role

We are seeking an Additional Learning Support Mentor to join our team at HSDC. As an Additional Learning Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in delivering mentoring support to learners with additional needs, facilitating drop-ins, and monitoring progress.

Responsibilities
  • Liaise with teachers and specialist colleagues to coordinate and implement support plans for students with EHCPs.
  • Mentor and support EHCP learners who require 1-1 check-ins with a trusted member of staff.
  • Monitor and report on progress of students with EHCPs, in preparation for annual review meetings.
  • Ensure the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
  • Liaise with teachers and other colleagues regarding health and wellbeing interventions while maintaining appropriate boundaries regarding student confidentiality and legal requirements.
  • Provide exceptional service to customers both internal and external, in line with college standards.
Requirements
  • English and Maths to at least a level 2.
  • Customer Service at L3 or working towards.
  • Level 2/3 qualification in SEND or working towards.
  • Thorough understanding of the barriers to learning faced by students.
  • Experience of working with students with disabilities and/or difficulties.
  • Capacity to use IT systems to record and monitor ALS data and support processes.
