Job Title: Paralegal Specialist

Job Summary:

A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced litigation paralegal to support its Products & Mass Tort practice in its Richmond office. This position will assist lawyers and practice advisors with preparation of complex legal documents, mid-level legal research activities, and other tasks related to the Products & Mass Tort practice area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Revenue Generation: Meet billable hour and timekeeping expectations set forth by the firm.
  • Billable Work: Proactively secure billable work by collaborating across teams and offices as needed.
  • Time Management: Maintain current and accurate daily time log; input time records into the firm's time and accounting systems according to firm and outside counsel guidelines.
  • Professional Conduct: Follow ethical requirements set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the state where work is performed.
  • Rule Knowledge: Apply intermediate knowledge and application of Federal, State, and Local Rules; stay updated on rule changes and inform the team.
  • Research and Analysis: Identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, legal articles, and other materials for assigned cases, business transactions, or regulatory matters.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare written reports for lawyers to determine case strategies; assist with preparation of legal documents and support lawyers during trials, client meetings, closings, and regulatory hearings.
  • Data Management: Compile data from reference materials such as virtual workrooms, digests, legal encyclopedias, and more; manage virtual workrooms and coordinate with client representatives on documentation.
  • Correspondence and Documents: Draft correspondence, memoranda, and basic legal documents for internal and external use.
Qualifications:
  • Basic Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • Paralegal Certification: Paralegal certificate, National Association of Legal Assistants certification, or state-specific specialty certificate preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum Requirements: Minimum of three years of paralegal or related business experience required; previous experience coordinating paralegal work or case clerk helpful.
Other Qualifications:
  • Technical Skills: Intermediate knowledge and application of Federal, State, and Local Rules.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic technological and research skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well under pressure, train others, and maintain professionalism.
  • Visual Acuity: Visual acuity for transcription, reading, and inputting information into computer systems.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, high stress tolerance, and ability to prioritize workload.
