Main Objectives:
We're seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design and development of high voltage power conversion products and associated equipment. The ideal candidate will have a relevant discipline and experience in power supply design, with a keen understanding of high voltage requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with customers to agree on unit specifications
- Design and develop high voltage power conversion products and associated equipment to agreed specifications
- Investigate and research new design techniques to improve stability, reduce noise, and enhance polarity reversing
- Accurately document designs to enable full manufacturing packages to be created or amended
- Confirm that developed designs meet requirements through test, simulation, and calculation
- Meet agreed time-scales for tasks or projects
- Ensure designs are cost-effective, designed for manufacture, and test
- Ensure products comply with current legal and regulatory requirements, avoiding components, materials, or substances that pose an environmental threat
- Assume ownership of assigned projects from conception to completion and provide continued support while in service
- Adhere to the Company's ISO 9001 Quality, ISO14001 Environmental, and Health and Safety management systems, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Knowledge of up-to-date components, technology, and manufacturing techniques
- Knowledge of current regulations and procedures and their impact on design
- Experience with UC design, particularly with respect to analogue control/systems, is desirable
- Ability to keep accurate records
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with colleagues and customers
- Understanding of PCB layout and mechanical packaging constraints
- Ability to work under pressure to demanding time-scales
- Ability to follow formal design procedures and methodologies in accordance with ISO 9001:2000
- Schematic Capture using CADSTAR is desirable
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
