Position Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our Estates Team as a Versatile Maintenance Engineer. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to take on a variety of challenges.

As part of our expanding organization, the Estates Department is looking for a full-time professional to provide essential maintenance services across a diverse range of facilities. Our team is dedicated to delivering both scheduled and emergency maintenance support around the clock, ensuring that all properties are well-maintained and operational.

The role of a Versatile Maintenance Engineer is critical in maintaining the integrity of heating systems and water supply, which are vital for our operations.

Key Responsibilities

The Estates Department is committed to providing a comprehensive maintenance service to uphold the highest standards within our facilities. As a Versatile Maintenance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing both reactive and planned preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Conducting leak detection and repairs, as well as replacing pipework.
  • Carrying out water temperature assessments and inspections of mechanical rooms.
  • Flushing systems and servicing or replacing valves as needed.
  • Engaging in water quality sampling and other related activities.

This role offers a wide variety of tasks, allowing you to utilize a broad skill set. You will be provided with a company vehicle and necessary supplies to effectively carry out your duties across all sites managed by our Estates Team.

Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, with the possibility of participating in an on-call rotation for additional compensation.

Candidates should have prior experience in plumbing, ideally within a maintenance team in a healthcare setting. However, experience in commercial environments will also be considered if strong transferable skills can be demonstrated. A recognized qualification in plumbing, such as an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, is preferred.

Job Requirements

As a Versatile Maintenance Engineer, your role will encompass:

  • Conducting planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems.
  • Testing and improving equipment and systems.
  • Engaging in training and development opportunities.
  • Handling all aspects of plumbing, drainage, and heating work, including fault diagnosis.
  • Addressing Legionella-related tasks.

Candidates must possess relevant mechanical qualifications and/or experience in a maintenance role, with the ability to work across various trades.

Upon hiring, you will have the opportunity to attend training courses to enhance your skills across mechanical and electrical disciplines. Participation in the on-call rota may be required, which includes additional compensation.

A valid UK driving license is necessary for this position, with reasonable adjustments available for individuals with disabilities in accordance with the Equality Act.

Successful candidates without prior NHS experience will typically start at the entry-level salary in line with the Agenda for Change framework.
