Job Title: Deputy Project Manager

Join Babcock Canada, a leading provider of critical support services to the Canadian Navy, as a Deputy Project Manager. In this role, you will play a key part in the delivery of complex projects, working closely with our team to ensure successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of direct reports and indirect workforce, ensuring effective project execution and delivery.
  • Support the Project Manager in day-to-day project management, including planning, execution, and close-out.
  • Develop and implement project management plans, ensuring scope, deliverables, and change are effectively managed.
  • Manage operational teams, deconflicting project activities and ensuring seamless project delivery.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, including key events and cardinal dates.
  • Ensure quality assurance commitments are met, monitoring and reporting progress to stakeholders.
  • Execute the project management cycle, from beginning to end stages.
  • Coordinate stakeholders, service providers, and subcontractors to deliver project commitments.
  • Implement active risk and opportunity management, reducing impact on schedule and developing recovery plans.
  • Integrate functional teams to ensure systems are handed over and set to work seamlessly.
  • Perform project reviews, evaluating performance, defining progress, identifying problems, and developing reports.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering or Project Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience supporting major project delivery or operations.
  • Proven leadership in diverse and complex stakeholder environments.
  • Exceptional communication skills and aptitude for developing collaborative solutions.
  • Experience in complex project environments, preferably within the marine industry.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes, and Planning, Scheduling, Earned Value.
  • Registration with a Professional body, such as the Project Management Institute (PMI), is considered an asset.
