Westlakes Recruit is currently seeking experienced Mechanical and Electrical Cost Consultants. This is a remarkable opportunity to join a specialized and rapidly expanding organization, engaging in various projects as required.
Role Overview
In this position, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring the anticipated contract margins are achieved while providing the high-quality service that clients expect.
- Conduct interim valuations, variations, and final accounts, along with internal weekly progress reports that detail hours worked and earned, gang rates, etc., to the Senior Cost Consultant. Manage subcontract payment certificates, cost value reconciliations, star rates, and the associated star rate register.
- Ensure that all contractual notifications are submitted in a timely manner to effectively manage the contract.
- Perform take-offs to identify changes in drawings from tender to as-fitted conditions, along with any subsequent alterations in construction issues.
- Monitor subcontract costs against established allowances, manage labor allocation sheets, and oversee prime costs to ensure project expenses align with contract margins. Utilize and update the internal project database to track labor, materials, plant, staff, and preliminary costs.
- Coordinate with project planners to conduct weekly measurements and achieve payment milestones as outlined in individual contracts.
- Implement risk management strategies effectively.
- Prepare subcontract orders and project tenders, collaborating with Work Package Managers.
- Oversee material purchases to ensure compliance with tender allowances whenever feasible.
- Facilitate the successful commercial execution of projects in alignment with contract margins.
- Keep the Commercial Director, Head of Commercial, and Work Package Managers informed of any significant cost overruns or risks to effective project delivery.
- Perform any additional duties necessary for the successful execution of the Quantity Surveyor role.
Qualifications Required
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and/or suitable professional qualifications.
Essential Experience
Experience within a multi-discipline contracting organization.
- Desirable Experience
- Familiarity with the NEC contract format.
- Experience working within a framework contract.
- Proficiency in using contract administration tools such as CEMAR.
Skills & Knowledge
- Proven advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Possession of a full driving license.
- Strong communication skills, particularly at senior levels within the organization and with client representatives.
- Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
