The Short Stay Surgery Unit on the ground floor is dedicated to the care of patients undergoing Gynaecological, Ophthalmic, Gastrointestinal, Urological, and Robotic surgical procedures.

Recovery Practitioners are specialists in post-anaesthetic care, providing tailored support to patients. They possess extensive knowledge in pain management and airway support, facilitating the transition of patients from the acute theatre environment to the ward or, if necessary, to critical care.

Our team is recognized for their exceptional skills and plays a crucial role within the broader Perioperative Care Directorate. By joining us, you will receive unparalleled training and professional guidance in a dedicated and industrious setting. Successfully integrating into our team will allow you to make a significant difference in the lives of our patients as we implement our recovery strategies in a safe surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

You will evolve into a collaborative team member who is proactive, organized, and capable of adapting to the dynamic and fast-paced nature of surgical care. Additionally, you will benefit from:

  • Integration into the extensive Operating Theatre Department and Perioperative Care Directorate, which encompasses over 40 operating theatres.
  • Opportunities to train and work across various specialties, including Ophthalmology, ENT, Gynaecology, Urology, and General Surgery.

Proficiency in Welsh is preferred for this position; however, applications from English and/or Welsh speakers are equally encouraged.
